Phase 1:

  • SPAR star experience: Recognise the requirements to meet the customers’ expectations
  • In the eyes of the customer: Recognise the customers’ expectations of the SPAR Fresh brand
  • Produce excellence: Product knowledge, KVI’s, seasonal products, categories, range etc
  • Right product, right place, right time: Factors that affect ordering patterns, cold chain, the receiving process, merchandising principles
  • SPAR star treatment: Different types of SPAR customers, How to meet & greet customers the SPAR way, Attending to customer complaints/queries. Recognise ways in which to up sell.
  • Sparkling SPAR: Personal hygiene, protective clothing, How to maintain food safety within your Fresh Produce department.

Phase 2:

  • Fresh for you: Relationships &  Responsibilities of key role players: DC, local suppliers, customers.
  • Successful selling: Visit to Durban fresh produce market, supplier & competitors
  • Marvellous Management: Managing staff, dealing with poor performance, recognition & rewards for consistent performers
  • Business Wise: Calculation of GP, ratio, stocktaking, pricing, creating a Value Added product and costing the item.
